Momentum for Change – Sept 24th
Help is needed to keep the momentum going in the fight against climate change! 350.org has organized a gigantic day of action focused on Sustainable Transportation.
The Moving Planet Day of Action is coming up on Saturday, September 24th. The Wilderness Committee is helping to host the Vancouver component of the day of action! The event in Vancouver is called Momentum for Change and will involve a bike ride (or skateboard or unicycle or pogo stick or however else you want to self-propel) from Science World to Stanley Park.
The ride will start at 2pm on Saturday, September 24th, leaving from Creekside Community Centre in False Creek (close to Science World). It will take the new, continuous bike route along Dunsmuir and Hornby through downtown Vancouver, and from there up Beach Avenue ending up at Second Beach in Stanley Park.
Before the bike ride, starting at 12 noon there will be festivities and a public forum on transportation alternatives at Creekside Community Centre with our friends from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and Better Environmentally Sound Transportation. The forum will be discussing the paper co-published with the CCPA called Transportation Transformation.
Come out to the Creekside Community Centre on Saturday, September 24, and enjoy the festivities and public forum at 12 noon, then join us at 2pm for the bike ride to Second Beach in Stanley Park! Remember to invite your friends and family!

A second action is also taking place on Sept 24th:
The Ride for our Future is a youth ride all the way from the Scott Road skytrain station (easily accessible by putting your bike on the skytrain) to our provincial legislature in Victoria. On September 24th, 350.org’s international day of climate action the youth of BC will be pedaling to our government offices to call for real action on climate change and to fight for our future.
