Programs

All of our programs are open to everyone: This includes students, staff, faculty and on and off campus community members.

No student status needed – although student status will get you a discount sometimes.

Bike Kitchen—our biggest, best and most successful program. A non-profit, full service, retail shop with all the tools and instruction you need to fix your own bike! Check out their website.

Volunteer Night – our second biggest program. A great way to learn basic bike mechanics, learn about the co-op, and meet new bike friends!

Cycling Resource Centre - Bringing cycling resources to a farmer’s market (or other event) near you.

Purple and Yellow Bikes—our community bike share program at UBC.

BYOB Build Your Own Bike—This program is currently on hiatus – when it returns you can sign up to: learn bike mechanic skills, build the bike of your dreams, impress your friends!

Mechanic Instruction/crash courses—learn all the basics of bicycle repair and maintenance in this five hour comprehensive intro to bike mechanics.

Women’s Night – A night aimed to encourage women to learn about bike mechanics. Email ubc.bikecoop@gmail.com for upcoming dates.

Bikes 101 - An educational workshop designed to introduce new riders to the basics of bike safety, route planning and maintenance. Also includes tips on buying a second hand bike!

Cargo Bike Share Program—book and rent cargo bikes to move your precious stuff around on two wheels! (Or four, with a trailer)

Bike Co-op Resource Library – A collection of literature about cycling movements and co-operatives located in the Bike Co-op.

Advocacy—Making the world a better place for cycling, and through cycling!

UTown Youth Bike Club – High school students are invited to come into the Bike Kitchen on Thursdays from 6pm – 8pm. Each week we will begin with a short lesson focusing on a specific bike repair skill. The rest of the evening will be a great opportunity to practice what you learned on our recycled bikes, earn volunteer hours and connect with fellow cyclists in a fun environment. No experience or bicycles are necessary!

Bike Lockers - Rent a locker from the Bike Kitchen for just $10 a month to protect your precious wheels. Drop by the Bike Kitchen for more information, or phone 604-827-7333.
